Moving to a retirement community?

Here are four tips for an easier transition.

With time on your side, the idea of moving to a senior living community with a vibrant
lifestyle and helpful services feels liberating and inspiring. However, considering a move is a big step, how do you make the transition as easy as possible? Here are tips from the senior
living experts at Beatitudes Campus.

#1 Explore your options

Start by identifying your biggest considerations and preferences, including financial,
location, lifestyle, culture, and access to healthcare and assisted living. Then do your
research by visiting communities, talking to residents and staff, and asking lots of
questions. Look for ways to sort fact from fiction. Be sure to compare the advantages of
an entrance fee
versus the benefits of flexible, month-to-month renting and weigh them
against your goals and expectations.

#2 Seek guidance from experts

As you explore the possibilities, seek guidance and advice from trusted sources, including
your friends, family, financial advisor, tax accountant, and clergy, if applicable.
MyLifeSite, a web resource created by senior living expert and author Brad Breeding,
offers an excellent primer on the basics of retirement communities.

At Beatitudes Campus, we’ve helped thousands of older adults during retirement planning
to get the future they want. From our Cost Calculator to a personal assessment tool, you’ll
find various senior living resources designed to help you make the best decision
possible.

If you’re wondering when to make your move, check out our blog on timing your move. If
you’re like Marta and Tom Brooks and not ready to make a move just yet, Beatitudes
Campus’ future Promenade Residences could provide the right timing.

#3 Choose what you love

Just because you’re moving, your routines and hobbies shouldn’t have to change. As
you’re exploring retirement communities in Arizona, look for places that appeal to you.
Double-check that your top choices offer flexible dining so it’s easy for you to enjoy a
great meal with friends when and how you want and that you have access to a wide variety
of life-enriching programs, amenities, and activities for seniors.

In comparison, Beatitudes Campus offers multiple on-campus dining venues and some 100 activities,
special community events, programs and amenities every month. So if you like to learn and
expand your skills, check if the community provides lifelong learning opportunities.

#4 Plan ahead for moving day

Planning is the single best way to ensure an easy transition to a new retirement
community. At Beatitudes Campus, we make sure your moving day goes well by
partnering with Moving Station ® to bring you expert moving advice and coordination at no
cost. In addition, your Personal Relocation Manager is with you every step of the way to answer your questions and help you find trusted resources for selling your home for the best price,
organizing and downsizing, planning your move, and more.

If you’re ready to start planning, our Quick Start Senior Living Guide is an excellent
resource. It offers advice on setting your expectations and provides an overview of your
options, tips on how to plan your move, and more.

    assisted living facilities near me

How to Find Assisted Living Facilities Near Me in Arizona

You may be wondering, “How am I supposed to find assisted living facilities near me in Arizona?”

There are many assisted living homes located throughout the state of Arizona. However, finding them can take time and effort.

This blog post will give you tips for finding assisted living facilities near you in Arizona.

One way to find assisted living homes is by using your local phone book. There is usually a section for elder care or nursing homes.

This can be a great way to start your search, as you can get information on the different facilities in your area.

However, keep in mind that not all assisted living homes are listed in the phone book.

You can also use the internet to find assisted living facilities near you.

You could even search for “assisted living homes” or similar phrases on Google and see what kind of results come up.

While this method can be helpful, it is not always the most reliable as you could end up with lots of results that aren’t related to assisted living homes.

It may also help to ask family and friends for recommendations on where they would recommend going if a loved one needed care.

They will likely know about different types of facilities in your area since they have likely had to use them in the past.

Don’t forget to take a look at our assisted living home directory. We list many different types of facilities throughout Arizona so you can find one that fits your needs.

This is just another way for you to search for an assisted living facility near me in Arizona. You should be able to find one that will fit your needs with our directory.

How do you qualify for assisted living in Arizona?

The first step is to determine if you meet the qualifications for assisted living in Arizona. The state has a few basic requirements:

You must be at least 18 years old.

You must require assistance with two or more activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, and grooming.

You must reside in a supervised setting.

You must have an emergency call device in your home if you live alone.

If you meet the requirements, then the next step is to find assisted living facilities near me in Arizona!

You can do this by contactingSenior Resource Connectors for referrals of nearby homes that cater to seniors with certain needs, or by using an online assisted living directory.

When looking for a facility, it’s important to consider the cost, the location, and the type of care offered.

You should also take into account your own personal preferences, such as whether you would prefer a smaller home or a larger one.

Ask questions about the staff-to-resident ratio, the available amenities, and any other services that are offered.

You should also take a tour of each facility you’re considering.

During your visit, look for cleanliness and safety concerns as well as how residents interact with staff members. You may want to ask some questions about what type of activities are planned at the center or inquire about things like transportation.

Who pays for an assisted living facility?

The cost of assisted living can be expensive, and it’s important to know who is responsible for paying the bill.

In most cases, the person receiving care in an assisted living facility will be responsible for paying the bill.

However, there are a few exceptions. If you are considering moving into an assisted living facility, it’s important to discuss the costs and payment options with the facility’s staff. Senior Resource Connectors can assist you with trusted financial advisors to guide you through this process.

If you are unable to pay for assisted living, there are a few options available to you.

The first option is Medicaid. Medicaid is a government-funded program that helps low-income individuals and families pay for medical care and long-term services, including assisted living.

If you qualify for Medicaid, your loved one will not have to pay for assisted living.

The second option is private financing or long-term care insurance.

Private financing allows you to finance the cost of services over time with a low monthly payment that does not increase over time.

These types of loans are available through banks and other local lending institutions. If you choose this option, your loved one will not be responsible for the monthly payments.

Finally, you can also pay out-of-pocket or with a family member’s income if they are willing to help financially.

If none of these options work for you and paying for assisted living is too expensive, it might be time to consider other long-term care options.

For more information on assisted living, visit our website or give us a call. Our friendly staff will be happy to answer any of your questions.

Moving Mom or Dad Assisted Living Community in Arizona

Moving an Aging Loved to An Arizona Assisted Living Community

If you are caring for an elderly parent, you may be searching for the right senior living situation. This article will cover some things to consider before moving mom or dad into a senior living facility.

      Getting Started

Find A Placement Agent in Arizona

When the passing of my father and the declining health of my mother required a change in Mom’s living situation, I enlisted the help of a placement agent to help identify the safest place for mom to reside. For high-quality placement agents, I recommend checking our Aging Specialists in our Coalition Directory. If you’re in another state, I recommend looking up “Senior Placement Agents in <State>.

I had to consider these important factors:

      • Proximity to family members
      • Affordability
      • Amenities
      • Services
      • Community reputation

Mom’s safety, comfort, healthcare, and mental wellbeing were my absolute priorities. Once I had all of that under control, I began to wonder – what about all Mom’s things that are not moving with her?

      Dealing With All Mom’s/Dad’s Stuff

I realized that my job was just beginning once Mom was successfully relocated into an assisted living community. Major details that still needed to be considered were:

      • What to do with her existing home?
      • What to do with her belongings that were left behind

The home would also need to be sold so the proceeds could be used toward her new living arrangement. But first, I needed to address what to do with the contents of her home. This became a 60-day endeavor, including:

      • Storage units
      • Estate sale
      • Yard sale
      • Junk removal
      • Home repair
      • Listing and sale of the home

Fortunately, I live in the same area and own a real estate business. Therefore, I had access to most resources. Still, it was a 60-day process.

How do other Arizona adult children do this?

From that experience, I learned that most other adult children have it tougher than I did. Many live in other parts of the country, have demanding careers, are raising young families, and/or can only afford to spend a couple of weekends settling a family estate.

      Find a niche-real estate agent/company

When you find yourself in this situation, I recommend owners seek out specific niche-related real state agents. If you’re in Arizona, I’ve set up a specific division of agents trained in helping adult children sell off their parent’s estates. You can literally hand us the house keys and we will coordinate everything for you — at no extra cost. My agents simply negotiate a reasonable commission on the sale of the home. All other services are billed by the specific service providers, such as movers, estate sales, junk removal, home repair, etc. The bottom line is that everything gets done without the kids having to provide the time and labor. They get to focus on what’s most important – their loved ones.
